You know, if one calculated all the property taxes they paid (directly if you own, indrectly if you rent) to support the schools I'd bet you'd find that most would pay 2-3 times what it would cost to put 2 kids through private school for k-12. And that's in AZ where property taxes are relatively low compared to lots of other states.

First, I don't think Hillary is going to get the nomination so...you can all slightly calm down.
Second, I get why all the unides are in a bunch about Universal Pre-K and Health Care (see general category: The End of All That Is Wholesome and Good), but what is socialist about Alternative Energy, Middle Class Tax Breaks, and bringing the troops home (which will never happen if she is elected btw)?
There's nothing wrong with alternative energy unless it's mandated by government, or supported by government. For example: ethanol. Artificial price supports, tax breaks, etc., and unintended consequences of converting foodstock into (inefficient) fuel stock.
It's "central planning" - a hallmark of socialism.
Middle class tax breaks? What happens when less than 50% of the population pays essentially no taxes in a society that practices democracy? You keep shifting the burden to the wealthy - and thus remove any incentive to become wealthy, or if you are wealthy to remain in the society. It's called "killing the goose." A highly progressive (in the original meaning of the term) tax structure is a fundamental part of Marxism, but it's not (entirely) to fund government, it's to make things more "fair."
"Bringing the troops home" - we know that one's a lie. Lying to achieve ones agenda is also a fundamental tenet of Marxism.
Markadelphia: Even where it doesn't rise to the level of full-on central planning, it constitutes a distortion of the market (by playing favorites, which, indeed, happens too much now--regulatory schemes of all kinds favor large businesses, which can afford to bear the fixed costs of compliance, better than small).

You miss the point again, Mark. Take a long, hard look at the last two presidential elections we've had, including the primaries. Reflect on how preposterous it was to predict either the nominations or the elections at any time during the process, particularly prior to the Iowa caucuses. You would have us believe that we should just stop being concerned with it because, by golly, you have predicted it and that's that.
After all these months, how little you understand us.
